Don't Come Crying to Me

okay so a couple of things.

first i ignore rules of grammar, spelling, capitalization and punctuation, usually, so don't waste your precious time by pointing these things out. "Why yes, I do realize that blogger has a spell check. I didn't use it because it's friggin boring."

second i do try not to get serious or babble on about deep issues, though occasionally i will.

third if you can pick out the theme to all of my post titles you will maybe get a cookie or a nonsarcastic "way to go skippy" at the very least.

lastly, thanks for coming, who are you and why are you reading this? you must be bored.

got your 9 iron in the back seat, just in case

...or the post in which pants gets in trouble for talking about religion.

so here's the thing i grew up in a catholic house. i broke with catholicism sometime around 8 or 9 when the teacher at my catholic school told me my grandfather who had passed when i was 5 and was my world in my young life was not in heaven and wouldn't get to heaven for a long time. instead he was in a vast empty wasteland called limbo waiting to be "prayed into heaven" and pretty much because he hadn't been given last rites before he died (suddenly of a rupture aneurysm at age 59) it would take even longer because jesus wouldn't recognize him as a soul to be saved from damnation.

it was at that time that i called shenanigans on the catholic church and i was never the same since. so later in my teenage years i identified and still mainly do identify with pagans but not wiccans because they're annoying. okay not all of them but some just take themselves WAY too seriously.

i always thought i might make a good jew but the entrance exam is way to hardcore than i am willing to commit to for anything, which is the point really. so clearly i am not a good conversion candidate.

as far as i understand Islam will pretty much accept anyone as willingly and easily as christianity will, just renounce everything everything and accept Allah as your own personal savior... okay maybe that is oversimplifying and obviously my personal knowledge of the finer points of Islam is lacking. Hey but i do know there is a difference between mainstream Islam and the zealots that blow up buildings! I am at least ahead of most stupid americans there.

what i don't get right now about christianity or more specifically the subset of "saved" folks is the dire need for recruitment. it just all smacks as disingenuous when i here someone answer another person's problems with "Go to Christ." i mean that is a bit presumptuous of the first person that the second isn't already there. In fact it's pretty insulting since the assumption is that even if the person is already devotely christian that they aren't doing it right and if they did it better maybe they wouldn't have such a trial.

shenanigans. people go through all kinds of shit that is totally unfair and whether they pray or they don't pray isn't going to change a thing if they don't already believe it will. so if they are praying and things are getting better telling them they are doing it wrong is just rubbing salt in the wounds. and if they aren't praying and don't believe in prayer, telling them that they need to start is equivilant to blowing them off and you might as well just out right say "i don't care about you because you don't fit into my myopic world view."

yes prayer works. it works for everyone. i pray ALL the time and it bears fruit for me in positive ways. i don't deal with negative or evil things. i don't believe in the devil. i do believe in jesus and we are definitely cool in spite of what the catholics and fundementalist protestants are saying and doing in his name. i know he doesn't have control over them any more than i do. he said it was okay that i don't accept him as my lord and personal savior as long i learned something from his time here and try to be a good person.

I am afraid of the time of christian extremism that is coming where people strap bombs to their chests and blow up planned parenthoods and mosques because their minister twisted some passage in the bible and they were guaranteed a place at the right hand of the right hand guy if they took out some infidels.

like i said this post is trouble, i know it, you know it but hey at least i'm not calling a bunch of entitled teenagers, lazy and disengaged. god forbid. that is all.
